What we are
Naulej.org serves to offer a platform for minds to meet, to seek and answer each other. We exist merely to offer a platform for ideal academic matching, for optimal knowledge exchange.
We hope a high enough number of people will specify their academic interests and needs here so they can find complementary matches in other members and, once they get their contact information here and mutually confirm the match, collaborate elsewhere towards their chosen goal.
What we are not
An online collaboration forum, service, tool or anything of the sort. Please do not use pages, posts or comments here for actually embarking on collaborative work. We do not guarantee the storage and maintenance of discussion. We wish to ensure that the profiles and posts with offers and calls are maintained as long as the members choose. Kindly use comments only to the extent of confirming with specific enquiries if the call or offer posted precisely matches your interest. The idea is that once a pair confirms mutual interest, they exchange coordinates for other means of contact and move the discussion and collaboration to one of those means. In the online multiverse, other addresses offer far better services for remote / online collaboration than will ever be possible in our limited means.
Privacy
The email address you register with is published publicly on your post, whether a call or an offer. This is again primarily to ensure that discussion in comments is limited to a minimum. However, we believe we take adequate care to protect email addresses.
The only instance where your email address appears, it is unintelligible to what is called a ‘spambot‘. (Spambot is software that ‘crawls’ the web looking for complete, valid email addresses - something with an ‘@’ sign and dots and alphanumerics. Think ‘Minority Report’ and the tiny spider-like robots that scan buildings for signs of life.) For the email address, a post on naulej.org uses a different way to tell the browser to render Roman alphabet, the ‘@’ sign and ‘dots’ for your email address, rather than using the actual character themselves.
At the present time, individual members cannot access the profiles of other members, but we will soon change that. We will also explore ways to let you choose a preferred mode of contact to share on a post. You will retain complete control over how much information you wish to share in your profile. If you use an OpenID to log in, you may totally avoid using a new, separate password here.
Even so, we advise you to use your more shopworn email address. (Of-course you have at least two and get way more spam at one of them anyway?) The purpose is to help someone who finds you here reach you directly. Once you establish communication, you can privately switch to a more preferred email address with just that person.
naulej.org will never consciously share data stored on our servers with any outside entity for any purpose whatsoever, unless explicitly called for under European law on the subject. Beyond what is in our direct control, we fall back to the Terms of Service of our commercial host, Webfaction, who promise to ensure the safety of the data we store with them.
Liability
The membership and service of facilitating knowledge exchange, nothing more, nothing less, is provided “as is”. In cases of unsatisfactory delivery of this service, all we can can offer to do is consider if we could implement an improvement, if any is suggested. We cannot be held liable for a perceived deficiency in the service or a contradiction between different instances of what may be stated or implied about the service anywhere on this website or the consequences thereof.
Given our limited means, we cannot take responsibility for spam, a prolonged lack of a response to your call or offer, a communication between members gone awry or any other fallout of your use of this service. We shall not be held accountable for anything that transpires between individuals who meet through this service, just as we will not claim copyright or share in gains of any successful collaboration that initiated here.
